Presentation

From the days of riverside carpentries to the large shipyards of today, Galicia has accumulated a long tradition in shipbuilding. Internationally recognized not only for our expertise but also for our resilience, a capacity to overcome adversity, and the will to continuously move forward.

ACLUNAGA

MEETING POINT OF THE GALICIAN NAVAL INDUSTRY

The only business group specific to the naval industry in Galicia

Founded in 1999, the Naval Cluster Association of Galicia (ACLUNAGA) was the second group of companies established in the Spanish naval sector as a Cluster. Since then, efforts have focused on greater diversification towards new, high-tech sectors, while the Cluster has consolidated itself as the first and main meeting point for the entire business and social network involved in shipbuilding.

Since its inception and driven by the Regional Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Innovation, ACLUNAGA's objectives have focused on technological improvement and research, production sophistication and efficiency improvements, as well as new methods of production design and quality, training, and organisation.

The association of companies whose interests converge in the production of high-quality products has played a very significant role in particularly delicate situations and during the last economic crisis. Business cooperation, combined with the involvement of other key players in the sector (government, universities, unions, and industry associations), proves to be a top-level strategic factor in addressing the challenges ahead.

Today, the track record and experience accumulated by the Cluster endorse it not only as the only specific group for Galicia’s naval sector, but also as the main meeting point for the entire business and social network involved in production, value generation, and the services necessary to meet the needs arising around shipbuilding.

ACLUNAGA - KEY POINTS:

  • UNIQUE IN THE SECTOR– It was one of the only two clusters of Spain involved with naval construction. It is currently the only business association specific to this activity in Galicia.
  • REPRESENTATIVENESS AND INFLUENCE – The long tradition in the naval sector still holds to this day its strength mainly in Ferrol and Vigo and their respectives areas of influence (though not exclusively), where it has a wide presence and representativeness.
  • CLUSTER – All of the economic activities that intervene innaval construction projects are widely represented in the heart of ACLUNAGA.

Currently, the Cluster includes companies whose products and services cover all segments of the shipbuilding value chain, from shipyards and engineering firms to classification and certification societies, as well as suppliers of equipment, materials, enablers, installers, and metalworking companies. In this way, ACLUNAGA's primary objective—to become the institution that most accurately reflects and represents the Galician naval sector—has been achieved and consolidated.

ACLUNAGA IN NUMBERS

The cluster currently has over 130 members and covers virtually the entire value chain of the sector.
