RESURGAM (Robotic Survey, Repair and Agile Manufacture)
Execution dates: febrero 2021 - enero 2024
Budget: 6.123.140,00 €
The RESURGAM project aims to achieve a decisive advancement with friction stir welding (FSW) as a high-integrity, low-distortion, and environmentally friendly welding technique, which will be developed for steel in the open air to facilitate the modular construction of vessels across multiple shipyards with final assembly in a main shipyard. It also involves the development of underwater and robotic FSW processes to enable repairs on marine structures without the need to bring vessels or platforms ashore to a dry dock.
In practice, this will enable vessels that are damaged anywhere in the world to be repaired on-site without the need to travel to the nearest dry dock. All of this will be carried out by European shipyards and naval architects in Europe.
