Technology seminar about digital twins in industry: Project Twin NavAux

December 18, 2024

On Wednesday 18 December 2024, a technology dissemination day focused on the use of Digital Twin in industry took place in Porto, in a mixed format (on-site and online).

Under the title ‘Towards the intelligent Digital Twin: technological and economic optimisation in the company. The Twin NavAux project’, the event aimed to bring participants closer to real cases of Digital Twin development and to offer an updated view on the progress of the three pilots that the Twin NavAux project is implementing for manufacturing companies in the Euroregion Galicia - North of Portugal.

The event was attended by the Twin NavAux project partners:

In addition, representatives of various companies and industrial and educational entities from Spain and Portugal attended.

Metaverse and virtual twin pilots

After the initial presentation of the Twin NavAux project, the Porto-based company Infinite Foundry shared its experience in the field of Digital Twins.

Specialising in simulation and optimisation of industrial processes, Infinite Foundry highlighted how solutions based on Digital Twins and virtual simulators enable companies to reduce costs, increase productivity and improve decision-making. Among its innovations is the development of Digital Twins in the metaverse, a line of work that is also part of the Twin NavAux project.

Research staff from the Universidade Portucalense and the Universidade da Coruña then presented the advances in the virtual twin pilots developed for the companies Ibercisa, Ferri and ElectroRayma. These pilots, in different stages of development, are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Twin NavAux Project

Co-financed 75% by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal POCTEP 2021 - 2027 Programme, the Twin NavAux project works to establish the technological and training conditions necessary to facilitate the general implementation of digital twin product models in the naval auxiliary sector to optimise profitability and operational efficiency in industrial companies.
